When you need a plumber: Allied Plumbing and Construction is there for you

0

There’s a reason Allied Plumbing and Construction Company was voted by readers of Style Magazine as “Richmond’s best home repair service” for 2011.” When you provide quality service at a reasonable price then your business should be rewarded.

Sooner or later, every homeowner is going to need the services of a plumber. Hopefully if you have plumbing needs, it will just be installation of a new water heater or replacing a valve, and you’ll have plenty of time to do it. Unfortunately, that’s not always the way it happens. When you find that water dripping down on your living room furniture, or you don’t have hot water for your shower or washing dishes, you’ll need a competent, efficient and reasonably priced plumber.

Sure, everyone knows the jokes about plumber’s rates and unfortunately plumber’s crack. But plumbing problems are serious issues and there is nothing funny when a plumbing disaster strikes.

Licensed Master Plumber Dominick Shelkey moved to Richmond in 2009 to start his business. As the owner of Allied Plumbing and Construction, Shelkey is also a Licensed Contractor. Shelkey believes that it is important for his company to offer free visits and free estimates and says that he doesn’t “want to charge anyone in Richmond for choosing Allied Plumbing to come to their home to repair their plumbing issues.”

But while still being relatively new to Richmond, Allied Plumbing and Construction offers over 25 years of plumbing and contracting experience. Experience like that gives you a company with the knowledge and skills to take care of your plumbing needs the right way and in a timely manner.

Shelkey says that his no charge estimate policy is his way of thanking the customer for allowing Allied Plumbing and Construction to be of service. He also offers Senior Citizens, Veterans, Active Military, Police Offers and Fire Fighters discounts every time they call.

Shelkey also believes that a plumber should only have to come to your home once to repair your issue He is adamant about his workers taking the time to repair the item right the first time they visit. Shelkey doesn’t think you should have to suffer through multiple repeat visits. He wants the job done right the first time. Allied Plumbing and Construction offers low competitive prices and is willing to answer your call 24 hours a day. Unlike most companies who charge you just to come and see if you have a problem, Allied won’t charge you for just the visit.

Allied Plumbing and Construction likes to offer customers rewards, not penalties for their business. It’s a refreshing change for a company just to want your business. And, should they arrive at your home later in the day, you won’t be charged should the repairs run into the evening hours.

Every new customer with Allied Plumbing and Construction receives 10% off of labor. In addition, every customer gets a free in home inspection of their plumbing system with every service call.

Allied Installs and repairs: water heaters, faucets, toilets, shower valves, leaks under your home, ceiling leaks, garbage disposals, valves and more. Allied is committed to stopping the leak and guarantees to beat any written estimate from another licensed plumbing contractor.

Allied Plumbing and Construction is professional, need and clean. When they’ve finished their work, they’ll put everything back in place, just like you had it. Their workers are pleasant and friendly to work with.

Allied is fully licensed and insured and will provide documentation upon request. Allied offers 24 hour service, 7 days a week. Allied accepts cash, check and all major credit cards. Reach them today for your plumbing needs at 804-715-7155.

Dabney Properties Offers Home on the Road

Judge Gideon J. Tucker once said “No man’s life, liberty or property are safe while the legislature is in session.”

But Slayton Dabney doesn’t see it that way.  In fact, he’s once again looking forward to welcoming the Virginia General Assembly when they convene for their 2011 Session in January.  His company, Dabney Properties offers Richmond furnished apartments, as well as units in Fort Lee, Fredericksburg, and Charlottesville, VA.

A former IBM employee Slayton Dabney is the President of Dabney Properties, a corporate housing firm he began just a few years ago.  He started his business with just one townhome, leasing it to a Mead Westvaco executive.  From there his business grew.

Dabney seeks to meet the needs of those seeking upscale temporary housing.  Among his clients are Virginia law makers while the General Assembly is in session.  But his business also serves the needs of those on temporary business assignments or those who have had had to relocate because of their job.  It’s not just the fortunate, but often clients include those displaced due to a property insurance loss.

Dabney Properties arranges temporary housing solutions not only in Richmond, but also has locations in Fredericksburg and Charlottesville.  He’ll also see significant business with his Fort Lee corporate housing properties as a result of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process.

Richmond locations include, Vistas on the James, the American Tobacco Center and Old Manchester lofts.  Suburban townhomes are also available.

When you know you’re going to be away from home for a long period of time, sometimes a hotel just won’t meet your needs.   Slayton Dabney understands that and has turned it into a profitable business filling an often unmet need.  Dabney Properties designs their facilities for those looking at stays of thirty days or longer.  Thirty days is the typical minimum stay.  Shorter stays may be arranged based on availability.

Dabney bases their service on this simple philosophy:

“You work hard to create a comfortable lifestyle for you and your family. When work or life demands temporary housing, we ensure you feel at home.”

Dabney leases corporate apartments on a short-term basis to meet the needs of those on temporary assignment to a new location, or for those in need of temporary housing while searching for a permanent home.  Amenities included in all Dabney Properties are: Deluxe furnishings, fully outfitted kitchens, modern appliances, personal washers and dryers, utilities, modern housewares, a DVD player, cable TV and high speed Internet.  For an additional fee, housecleaning services are available.

Offering much more than just a hotel balcony, Dabney enhances relaxed living with exterior features such as furnished outdoor decks and patios, and fenced-in backyards

Billing for the property can be arranged through your business or simply placed on a major credit card.

The key here is convenience for the traveler or for the temporarily displaced.  Slayton Dabney seems to have discovered what the traveling business man or woman, or the temporarily Richmond-based law maker needs the most; a place to call home away from home, whether they are in need of Richmond corporate housing or a housing in any of the other Virginia regions Mr. Dabney serves.

Going from Blog to Business and Doing it In Style

0

When John and Sherry Petersik moved to Richmond from Manhattan in 2006, they began the transformation of their first house. Young, energetic and terribly creative, they began chronicling that transformation on their blog: Young House Love. A blog they describe as “Two Young People Falling in Love with Their First House.”

They developed a loyal and enthusiastic following by 2008 and opened their own online shop of original art prints. Today that blog has turned into an all family business, John and Sherry work from home, along with mascot Burger and their newly minted daughter.

Clients seeking advice from Young House Love can contract with them for a “customized mood board with color scheme solutions, affordable furniture and accessory suggestions, layout ideas and more to help you totally transform your space with style to spare.” If you’re lucky, and perhaps skilled enough, your project might even be featured in a before and after post on the blog. How does it all come about? The FAQs section of the website says, “We usually start with the requested decorating style along with specific furniture requests.”

Those seeking a mood board from Young House Love need to show some initiative of their own. Each Monday at “buy now” link appears on the website. Available mood boards are gone within seconds. In a depressed economy, it’s rare to find a company that says “we can’t take your business right now, check back next week.” But that’s been the success the Petersik’s have found.

The couple has been so successful that they now have a regular column in Better Homes and Gardens’ Do It Yourself Magazine. And they’ve been featured on HGTV’s “Rate My Space.”

A unique feature offered by Young House Love is their “How To” section. This section chronicles blog post for everything from furniture refinishing, to porch makeovers, to basement redos. Each task upon which the Petersik’s have embarked with their home, right down to the decorating of the Christmas tree, is lovingly blogged and documented so that you can sign off the Internet, go and do likewise.

Young House Love isn’t just about what will look good, they’re both environmentally and economically friendly. Multiple posts will tell visitors how to green your environment. Best of all, they’ll tell you how to do it on a budget. There are also holiday and art projects galore.

It’s hard to check out a business blog like Young House Love and not be inspired. The problem, of course, is finding the time to shut down the computer and embark upon your own project. With page after page of inspiring ideas and instructions, there’s a lot to see.

There’s no shortage of suppliers wishing to advertise on Young House Love. A healthy sidebar full of design ideas and products rests along side the articles. Not to be missed is the Discount-O-Rama featuring discounts and bargains for readers.

Perhaps it was a stroke of marketing genius for Young House Love to create their regular “Fan Freebie” post. Thanks to the generosity of their suppliers, the blog offers a regular contest where the cost of entry is simply commenting on the blog post with the “magic words” provided right there. Then a random drawing determines the winner. You could win anything from artwork to pillows to lampshades, all with a special and unique design flare.

If you’ve been putting of that room, yard or furniture makeover, head on over to Young House Love for some inspiration.
